Exciting opportunity to engage youth and community audiences across the UK to achieve environmental and wellbeing impacts. This is part of RBG Kew’s flagship outreach learning initiative, Grow Wild, which brings people together to value and enjoy plants and fungi.
Since 2014, Grow Wild has won multiple national awards for its scale, impact and creativity. During its next phase in 2020 and 2021, Grow Wild will run activities online and on-the-ground to achieve at least 150,000 positive actions each year by target audiences.
Grow Wild is part of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew – a world leader in plant and fungi science and education.
Grow Wild’s Engagement and Training Officer will create networks of funded youth-led projects and upskill and connect community groups and other audiences.
This post will also help Grow Wild deliver new outreach learning activities with additional funding from private, public and corporate contributions. This approach is made possible thanks to the ongoing support from the National Lottery Community Fund and other funders.
Requirements of the role
The successful applicant will have proven experience of inspiring public engagement and action. They will have a background in community-based environmental change, horticulture/landscape management or science communications.
We’re looking for successful track record of managing grant funded projects and delivering days/events that upskill and connect target audiences, together with achievements in partnership working.
This role will be based at Kew Gardens with some UK travel and may be subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks (DBS), including barred lists.

Target start date: 6th January 2020.
End date: September 2021, but this post may be extended subject to funding.
