Bgen will have its first in person conference for three years and it’s going to be big! As part of their 25th anniversary celebrations, Bgen is going to the National Botanic Garden of Wales and we would love you to join us and make it special. You can expect inspirational speakers, hands-on workshops and forums, site tours, and opportunities to share your thoughts on the future direction of education in botanic gardens.

Shuttle Bus - There will be a shuttle bus / lift sharing option from Carmarthen. Please indicate if you are interested in using this service on your event registration form. Full details will be shared with attendees in due course.
By car - The Botanic Garden is just 10 mins from the M4 and 2 minutes from the A48 in Carmarthenshire, mid-way between Cross Hands and Carmarthen. For Sat Nav users, our postcode is SA32 8HN.

Taxi - To get to the Garden from Carmarthen train station will cost between £15-20, from Llandeilo train station between £17-£22 and from Swansea train station £30-£50.

Train - The Botanic Garden is about 8 miles from Carmarthen train station.
There are regular connecting trains from Carmarthen to Swansea and Cardiff in the east and to Milford Haven in the west. Trains from London Paddington and Birmingham to Carmarthen run every hour or so throughout the day.
The Botanic Garden is about 10 miles from Llandeilo train station. This runs a more limited service along the Heart of Wales Line and there is no connecting bus service to the Garden.
Parking will be free for the event.
The Botanic Garden has been designed to be accessible to all visitors whatever their ability.
This Botanic Garden is a very special place and covers 568 acres. While much of the site is served by wide flat, hard paths, some routes are more challenging. Some of the surfaces beyond the core Garden can be uneven, steep and slippery. We therefore advise that suitable footwear is worn.

WEDNESDAY
For those travelling down the night before, there is an informal gathering taking place at Cwrw from 6pm in Carmarthen.
THURSDAY
The conference dinner is going to be held at Wright's Emporium and will include a two-course celebrating locally produced food. This is on Thursday 6th Feb. Attendees can either car pool to the venue (5 mins from the Garden) or NBG Wales staff will lead a torch lit walk from the Garden to the venue through their site. Menu below.
Those of you that opt-in for the Conference Dinner will be contacted by email in the New Year to obtain your menu choices. Upon ticket purchase, you will also have the opportunity during registration to confirm any dietary requirements - (please ensure you have signed up for our newsletters via our website so as to not miss any important conference communications)

FRIDAY
We appreciate that NBG Wales is a long way for some members. Therefore, we are organising a social
evening for those able to stay on the Friday night. This is included in the conference package.
Join us for some evening entertainment and games, a ‘Make your own pizza’ dinner using the NBG Wales
pizza oven, and (weather-willing) a star-gazing activity.
