Bgen is a specialist support network for professional plant and natural world educators. We help our members to connect people and plants in innovative and engaging ways.
Bgen aims to integrate our members into an energetic network of like-minded people. We do this through online events, face to face training and networking events and our informative, topical Annual Conference.
Bgen supports and builds capacity in educators and community engagers in natural and plant science, biodiversity and sustainability, visitor engagement, audience development, evaluation and funding.
Bgen is led by a governing Board, made up of members who serve three-year terms. The Bgen Board oversees our programmes and operations, and leads the delivery of member communications, training days, and conferences. Each Board member serves on one specialised workstream group: Training, Conference, Fundraising, Communication & Membership and Governance.
If you are interested in joining the Bgen Board, please do contact the Bgen Coordinator for more details info@bgen.org.uk
At Bgen, we’re more than a network – we’re a supportive, active community. Our Co-ordinator, Samantha, is here to help you get the most out of your membership – whether that’s answering questions, connecting you with resources, or simply offering a friendly point of contact. Sam also manages job listings for members (a small fee applies) and helps share updates, events, and resources from across the community. Let us know what’s happening in your organisation – we’d especially love to see photographs, stories, and insights to help celebrate the great work being done by our members. With over 300 member organisations, including botanic gardens, zoos, arboreta, and outdoor spaces across the UK, Ireland and beyond, we’re here to help you stay connected, supported, and inspired.
The Bgen Board meets 4 times a year, either remotely or face to face, and holds an Annual General Meeting usually in November to coincide with the Annual Conference.
